It serves the purpose

It is what you would think it is. Its thick enough, blocks the sun, keeps the bugs off your face, and it looks good. Its also feels fine against your skin, not itchy or uncomfortable.

when I let my beard grow for a few days my short beard hairs get caught in the material and it pulls and hurts. Not a deal breaker but lowering to 4 stars because of the discomfort related. I'm really fond of this item! I've tested it for sun protection, and it's both comfortable and cooling. I had never considered getting one of these sun protection gaiters, but I do own a merino wool one that I use as a substitute for a scarf in the winter. It's truly great.
